    Description

Staurosporine (STS, Antibiotic AM‑2282) is a potent, broad‑spectrum protein kinase inhibitor that inhibits PKC (IC₅₀ = 3 nM), p60v‑src (6 nM), PKA (7 nM), CaM kinase II (20 nM), and many other kinases. It induces apoptosis in oral and pancreatic cancer cells with IC₅₀ values in the sub‑micromolar range. Staurosporine is an indolocarbazole alkaloid. It was first isolated from Streptomyces staurosporeus and later found in other actinomycetes. In research, it is widely used as a positive control for apoptosis induction, a kinase inhibitor tool for signaling studies, and a potent inducer of autophagy and neurite outgrowth in neuronal cultures.
